I then replaced the Ref150's stock cord with a 20A cord used in-house by ARC and designed by Sain Line Systems, the maker of most of my cables. The Sain cord was a definite step up in every way, reducing the grain structure of the sound, extending and sweetening the treble, fleshing out the midrange, and increasing bass weight and speed. Hearing how much improvement ARC's Sain cord made in the Ref150's sound, I thought I'd try the 20A Sain Line System Reference cord I already owned.

Holy smokes! The Sain Reference further opened up my system's sound, offering greater immediacy, staggering depth, a wider soundstage, less grain, more textured and fleshy images, and extension of both ends of the audioband. I wish that fancy cables attached to the end of an inconsistent power grid and junky home wiring didn't make much difference, but they do. Although aftermarket power cables aren't something I want to believe in, I now do, based on strictly empirical evidence: what I hear. I use good power cables because I want to create the best sound in my home that I possibly can, and I trust my ears to tell me when I have. The sound of the Ref150 with Sain Line Systems' Reference cord was silly good, and that's how I powered the amp for the duration of my listening.Eric Lichte Stereophile

I relaced the long interconnect with your 2 meter cables (13 hours break in on the Nordost break in machine) and I must confess, they did not meet my expectations! No, they were way beyond what I had hoped for! You created a terrific cable for me and I am very, very pleased. I could name many areas where the sound improved, but most importantly, the sound is more real, more there with you, with palpable presence. Great center image and focus and weight and warmth. Sensational low level resolution and depth. The upper mid range (sibilance range) has never sounded so spot on. Bass sounds like I would expect it to - deep, full, no boominess or colorations. Upper treble is clear, airy and extended. Vocals are the most natural sounding ever. I do have a fabulous cartridge, phono stage and turntable/arm, set up to perfection by Wally, and you can really hear the excellence of the total front end now, for the very first time. Great job! I use Sain Line Systems Reference Power Cords and pure reference interconnects and consider them essential to getting the highest performance possible from our reference system and they are key tools for product development. They are the best I have heard . The speed and transparency along with low level resolution are truly remarkable . Warren Gehl - Audio Research

Having committed over 30 years to my passion for all things audio/video, I have evolved my interests and expertise into a long and very successful career. I am responsible for the design and installation of premium residential electronic systems, both locally and nationally, which include extraordinary, one of a kind, cinema rooms as well as extremely sophisticated automation/integration solutions. While the latter offers intriguing challenges and opportunity it’s my work producing systems for music and film that continues to keep me inspired. With that said I can once again claim with great pride that I recommend Sain Line Systems cabling for my clients with a discerning ear and a love for dramatic and gripping, emotional performances. The caliber of materials and quality of fabrication in Christopher's reference cables make other cable offerings pale by comparison, regardless of price. Thomas D. ...switching to Sain line Systems Pure Reference balanced ribbon interconnect opened up the sound even more without making it too cool or too bright. My impression was that the Rogue M-180s could handle being associated with very revealing equipment and accessories, and I didn't need cables or other gear with complementary colorations to act as tone controls. In fact, as the  other gear came in for review here, the M-180s with Sain Line Systems Pure Reference Interconnects proved a very revealing and neutral combination for evaluating the sound of my other gear . " Eric Lichte-Stereophile Magazine Chris,

The cables are fantastic. By far the best made cables I have ever even seen, and my studio is happier for them. Thank you so much for making a truly World-Class Product and for offering service and value that is unmatched in the industry. Sincerely, Joel DuBay  President- Ready Acoustics

You should really stop by and "listen" to your cables. At the same time I switched power cords, I also inserted first one set, then two, and finally three sets of Sylvania 6SN7 Metal Base tubes in the Atmasphere. So what you hear is really two changes at one time. Still, with as MUCH information, spatial and frequency related, as I am getting now, at the very least, your cords are not HOLDING ANYTHING BACK. The mid bass/warmth region has never been this good since I started fooling with the MBLs. What used to be an "issue" to one degree or another, is now a non-issue. Bass is great. Treble is as open, detailed, extended and airy as I have ever heard. Simply wonderful. The musicality is as good as I think I can get it. The size of the stage, the reality of the stage or space, huge, open, real sounding ambience, and the presence of solidity of players within the stage can best be described as almost real sounding. All of my interconnects and all four power cords to the MBL amps come from your little fingers. Job very well done. David

This VB-REF cable, made for Bel Canto by Minneapolis-based Sain Line Systems (who make most of the cables I use in my system), was terrific. While all of the other power and digital cables offered slightly different perspectives and flavors, the VB-REF offered sound that was truly better in every way. It opened up the soundstage even more, reduced treble grain, and lowered the perceived noise floor. At $495, the VB-REF is no cheap add-on, but I'd call it a necessary one if you want to realize the DAC3.5VB's full potential. I left the VB-REF cable in for the duration of my listening.

I have to zealously agree with Mr. Freeman as to the impact and effect that Mr. Sain's power cords have on the performance of your components. I have had both the base and, now, the reference level in my system running to dCS Verdi and Delouis as well as Audio Research Ref 3 and now Ref 5 preamp. I cannot overstate the results as the power cords eliminate EMI and RFI, significantly lowering the noise floor, and allow the components to do the things that they are supposed to do. You will hear more detail, better sound stage placement, sharper imaging, and more lifelike timbres and tones in both instruments and vocals. I know, it's just supposed to be electrical current, but, the difference is really beyond description. I am thankful to the folks at Audio Perfection in Minneapolis for putting me onto these gems and thankful to Chris Sain for putting together a gem of a product. As Mr. Freeman said in his post, if you are looking for system improvement, you can't go wrong.......and, as good as the base level is, the reference level is that much better.....strongly endorse checking them out if you get the chance.......

It has been a real eye opener installing Mr Sain's reference power cords and reference interconnect cables in my system. I am using Audio Research's Reference 10 line stage, Reference Phono SE and the Reference DAC as well as the Reference 75s. The first step I made into the Sainline world of high resolution cables was installing a pair of Reference power cords to the pair of Ref 75s I use to vertically bi amp my speakers. I have had over 25 years of exploring high end power cords
and interconnect cables so I am not new to the differences power cables and interconnects make to the sound of a system. I was taken aback by the incredible sense
of realism I experienced with the Sainline power cords running the amps. I proceeded to install reference power cords to all my front end equipment. Each component I connected to these reference power cords extended the palpable realism I had first experienced with the power cords to the amps. These cables in my opinion don't color the sound like so many of the power cords I have previously tried. I experienced a clarity throughout the full band width of the music. There wasn't any hype to the upper midrange, no glare to the high frequencies, no thickening to the mid bass and bass. I found my system had become very transparent with an ease to the presentation . I knew I was hearing my ARC system to its fullest potential, I couldn't stop listening because the sound had become so compelling and real. I couldn't agree more with the other testimonials I have read regarding Sainline

System cables. I have had the pleasure to speak at length with Mr Sain regarding his philosophy on power cords and interconnect and it is evident to me Mr Sain cuts no corners when it comes to building the finest cables made. Anyone driven to experience the truest musical experience owes it to themselves to install these very special cables in their system.

The global improvements to my listening experience since the addition of Sain cables to my system is way beyond my  expectations. Following the recommendation of an audiophile friend, and with some subtle cynicism, I proceeded to trial your Reference power cord on my ARC Ref 250’s. The outstanding detail and yet fluid and completely  natural overall presentation was striking. The subsequent decision to replace the existing  very respected..and I might add more expensive cable.with your Reference power cord was compelling.realize the synergy of your cables with ARC products is well known, but equally great changes occurred with the Reference cable you configured for my Aesthetix Calypso Signature preamp. The recent addition of the your Reference speaker cable has brought the same beautiful  balanced improvemnts to every nuance of sound.. combining vibrant detail, silent background and rich midrange texture to violins and female voice.
Thanks for the recent  trial of Pure Sound XLR interconnects. As soon as funds allow, this will be the next highly anticipated addition. I am grateful for your outstanding products, communication and help which have transformed my listening experience.
